Chief Executive, Upstream
Bernard Looney is responsible for BP’s Upstream segment which consists of exploration, development and production.
Bernard joined BP in 1991 as a Drilling Engineer. He has worked in the North Sea, Vietnam, Gulf of Mexico and Alaska, prior to taking up the role of Chief Operating Officer, Production in February 2013.
He was appointed to the role of Chief Executive for BP’s Upstream Segment in February 2016. He is a member of the BP Group Executive Committee.
Bernard is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and holds an Honors Degree in Electrical Engineering from University College Dublin and an MS in Management from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University.
